Jan is proprietor of The Smalltalk Idiom and
first used Smalltalk in 1982 while an
employee of IBM's Federal Systems Division. He has been a software
consultant since 1996 and, in his
twenty years as software engineer,
has worked a wide variety of projects, from real-time communications and avionics
systems, to research grade distributed systems, to image processing and
recognition systems, to support software systems like compilers and computer
simulators, to database and test engineering systems, and most recently as a data
warehousing analyst, designer, and developer.
Jan is available for Smalltalk projects as technical developer, tester, designer,
mentor, or management advisor by daily rate contract,
with per diem living and travel expenses reimbursed in full. His practice is limited
